How to Cancel a Meydan License Online: The 8 Portal Steps

Meydan lets you cancel your company through the portal in eight on-screen steps. Most are quick — but two of them need documents you'll want ready in advance. Here's the whole flow.

Short answer: In the Meydan portal, a company closure is a Company Formation Cancellation request that runs through eight steps: choose licence, cancellation questionnaire, document submission, formation package, activity declaration, remarks, review, and payment (around AED 2,020 for the licence). Step 3 needs a board resolution; after payment, Meydan requests the liquidation report from an authorised auditor. Line up those two documents and the process is straightforward. Visas and the establishment card are charged separately.

Meydan's online cancellation is genuinely self-service — you can run it yourself from the portal. The mechanics of the eight steps are simple; what trips people up is arriving at a step without the document it needs. So this walkthrough goes through each step and, crucially, flags where the two documents — the board resolution and the liquidation report — come into play.

The steps

The 8 steps of the Meydan cancellation

From the portal, you start a Company Formation Cancellation and work through:

  1. Choose licence. Select the Meydan licence you are cancelling to start the Company Formation Cancellation request.
  2. Cancellation questionnaire. Answer Meydan’s questionnaire about the company and the reason for closure.
  3. Document submission. Upload the board resolution (current Meydan template, naming your liquidator) and any bank account clearance letter — the step most people get stuck on.
  4. Formation package. Select the applicable formation/cancellation package in the portal.
  5. Activity declaration. Make the required declaration about the company’s activity.
  6. Remarks. Add any remarks or notes requested.
  7. Review application. Check every entry and uploaded document before submitting.
  8. Payment. Pay the Meydan cancellation fee (around AED 2,020 for the licence cancellation) to submit the request.

Steps 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are quick data entry. The two that need preparation are step 3 (documents) and, after submission, the liquidation report Meydan requests to finalise.

Step 3

Step 3, document submission — the usual sticking point

This is where most cancellations pause. The portal asks you to upload a board resolution and, if applicable, a bank account clearance / account-closure letter (and any clearance from external authorities that applies). The board resolution has to be on Meydan's current template and must name your liquidator — which is the piece most owners don't have ready.

⚠ Have the board resolution ready before you reach step 3You can't clear document submission without it, and it must name a liquidator (an authorised auditor). Preparing it takes us minutes from your trade licence — but discovering you need it mid-application is what turns a 20-minute task into a multi-day one. See our guide to the Meydan board resolution.
The fee

Step 8, payment — and what AED 2,020 does and doesn't cover

At the payment step the portal shows the Meydan fee for the licence cancellation — around AED 2,020. It's important to read that figure correctly:

ItemCharged how
Licence cancellation~AED 2,020 (the fee shown at payment)
Visa cancellationCharged separately, per visa
Establishment cardCharged separately
Liquidation report + board resolutionProfessional service — from AED 1,499 + VAT

So AED 2,020 is the licence-cancellation fee only. If your company has visas and an establishment card, Meydan applies its own separate charges for those — budget for them on top. [VERIFY current Meydan fees in your portal.]

After payment

What happens after you submit and pay

The request moves through Meydan's processing stages — payment approval, application accepted, application under process, IC under process, application completed. During this, Meydan emails you to provide the liquidation report. If you submitted without it, the application is returned for that document — not rejected; you simply upload the report in your open tasks and return the application. Our returned-application guide covers that step in detail.

Once the report and any other items are in, Meydan issues the cancellation certificate. Then the tax side follows: file the final Corporate Tax return and complete Corporate Tax deregistration (and VAT deregistration if registered).

Frequently asked questions

Through the Meydan portal, as a Company Formation Cancellation request. The application runs through eight on-screen steps: choose the licence, complete the cancellation questionnaire, submit documents (board resolution and any bank clearance), select the formation package, make the activity declaration, add remarks, review, and pay. After payment, Meydan processes the request and — at the liquidation stage — asks for the liquidation report from an authorised auditor before issuing the cancellation.

Eight: (1) Choose licence, (2) Cancellation questionnaire, (3) Document submission, (4) Formation package, (5) Activity declaration, (6) Remarks, (7) Review application, (8) Payment. Step 3 is where most people pause, because it needs the board resolution. Once the application is submitted and paid, it moves into processing (payment approval, application accepted, under process, IC under process, completed) and Meydan requests the liquidation report.

At the document-submission step the portal asks for a board resolution and, where applicable, a bank account clearance / account-closure letter, plus any clearance from external authorities that applies. Separately, to finalise the cancellation, Meydan requires the liquidation report from an authorised auditor — usually requested after submission. So the practical document set is: board resolution, bank clearance (if any), and the liquidation report.

The Meydan fee shown at the payment step for the licence cancellation is around AED 2,020. Important: that figure is for the licence cancellation only. Visas and the establishment card are charged separately — Meydan applies its own charge for each visa cancellation and for the establishment card. On top of the government fees, the liquidation report and board resolution are a professional service (from AED 1,499 + VAT). [VERIFY current Meydan fees in your portal.]

The request moves through Meydan’s processing stages — payment approval, application accepted, application under process, IC under process, and application completed. During this, Meydan emails you to provide the liquidation report; if you submitted without it, the application is returned for that document. You upload it in your open tasks and return the application. Once everything is in order, Meydan issues the cancellation certificate.

That step needs the board resolution, on Meydan’s current template, naming your liquidator — which is what most people don’t have to hand. Get the resolution completed (we do this from your trade licence, usually same day), upload it with any bank clearance letter, and the application continues to the formation package and payment. The board resolution and the liquidation report are the two documents worth lining up before you start.

Yes. We prepare the board resolution, act as your appointed liquidator, produce the liquidation report (from AED 1,499 + VAT, covering both), guide the portal submission and payment, and handle the tax side — the final return and Corporate Tax deregistration.
