Cancelling a Meydan Free Zone licence is an eight-step online application on portal.meydanfz.ae with a fixed fee of AED 2,020.00 — the immigration (establishment) card cancellation fee — and the whole thing takes about fifteen minutes once your documents are ready. What slows most people down is not the portal but arriving without the signed liquidation report and without the visas cancelled. Step 1 — Choose licence
Company name dropdown, and an orange notice about visas and immigration cards.Select the licence from the dropdown; it appears as the licence number followed by the company name in brackets, for example AA0115168 (Company L.L.C-FZ). The orange box under it is the one rule that governs the whole application: visa and immigration card cancellation come first. If you press Next and the portal refuses, you have an open visa or an active establishment card somewhere. Cancel the establishment card before you continue.
Step 2 — Cancellation questionnaire
This is a customer-exit survey, not a compliance screen, but every field is mandatory; leave one blank and the sidebar shows "Please fill out this field." For the reason, most closures pick Other (Please Specify) and type "Discontinuation of business." One-word answers such as "No" are accepted in the free-text boxes. Step 3 — Document submission
This is the only step where the application can be rejected later, so it deserves care.

Below the uploads are three declarations: Declaration of Formation Cancellation, Declaration of Bank Account Clearance, and Declaration of Clearance from External Authorities. Tick all three. The bank-account declaration is what covers a company that never held an account; Meydan does not ask for a separate "no bank account" letter in this slot, although we add a one-line confirmation inside the liquidation report itself.
Uploads show a file name and the word Complete once accepted, with a bin icon to replace them. PDF is the safe format.
Do not reach step 3 without the report. Meydan will not accept a cancellation without the liquidator's signed report, and the portal does not let you skip the upload and add it later. Fastlane turns the Meydan liquidation report around in 3–7 working days.

There is nothing to decide here for a standard Meydan FZ LLC. Select Standard formation and press Next. The info text ("Type of formation based on the nature of business…") is boilerplate shared with the incorporation flow.
Step 5 — Activity declaration and Step 6 — Remarks
Step 5 has an optional supporting-document upload and a comments box; both can be left as N/A unless Meydan has asked you for something specific. Step 6 asks whether you want to add remarks; answer No unless there is an unusual circumstance the reviewer should know about, such as a name change during the licence year.
Step 7 — Review application
The review page lists every answer and upload with an Edit pencil beside each section. Check three things before you press Next: the licence number matches the one on the resolution, the PDF icons appear against both Board resolution and Clearance from external authorities, and the questionnaire has no blank rows.
Step 8 — Payment: AED 2,020
The fee shown throughout the sidebar, AED 2,020.00, is charged here by card. It is Meydan's immigration (establishment) card cancellation fee, collected through this Cancellation application. Everything else in a Meydan closure is priced separately, and the full cost breakdown runs through it. In summary:

What happens after you pay
Meydan reviews the uploads, then publishes the cancellation notice on its website for the 15-day objection period described in Meydan liquidation process and 15-day announcement. Once that clears, the cancellation certificate is issued. Do not wait for the certificate to start Corporate Tax deregistration: the FTA's three-month window runs from the cessation date on the resolution, and the report you uploaded to Meydan is not what the FTA needs. Worked example: a two-visa consultancy closing in September 2026
Licence expires 30 November 2026. Both visas are cancelled by 20 September and the establishment card by 25 September. The shareholder signs the resolution dated 22 September; Fastlane issues the liquidation report on 29 September. The owner files the portal application on 30 September, pays AED 2,020, and the 15-day notice runs to mid-October. Total out-of-pocket: AED 2,020 + AED 1,999 (report, final CT return, CT deregistration) = AED 4,019, with no renewal penalty because the file closed before the 30 November expiry.
